Based on popular demand we created a Peru post trip extension to Lake Titicaca, one of the most culturally and architecturally stunning areas of Peru that does not disappoint.
We fly to Lake Titicaca where we will take a motor boat trip to some of the more unique islands of Lake Titicaca, starting with the utterly fascinating Uros Islands. These islands are completely man made, and its inhabitants continue to maintain them as they have since pre-Columbian times, using Totora reeds from the lake.
Also, we will visit to the awe-inspiring Chullpas of Sillustani, where the ancient Aymaras used to bury their high priests in cylinder-shaped rock tombs.

Day 1 ~ Cusco to Lake Titicaca

Welcome to Juliaca, and especially, Lake Titicaca, one of the most fascinating lakes in the world!
Lake Titicaca is a sacred place for the Inca civilization, as the Incan mythology says that the first Inca king, Manco Capac, was born here. According to the Incan mythology, this is the place from which the world was created, when the god, Viracocha came out of the lake and created the sun, the stars, and the first people.
Upon arrival, you will be met at the airport with your Zoom Vacations representative and taken to the Casa Andina Private Collection Hotel in Puno.
Dinner is included and will be served at your leisure.

Day 2 ~ Lake Titicaca
Breakfast will be served at the hotel.
7:30 AM: Meet in the Hotel Lobby prior to departure
7:45 AM: Tour of Lake Titicaca Enjoy a complete day of sailing in Titicaca Lake, the highest navigable lake in the world. Depart early in the morning for the floating islands of Uros, where the inhabitants still live as they did centuries ago, on floating islands they make with the totora reeds that grow on the lake. Continue sailing towards Taquile Island for a 30 minute hike towards its small town inhabited by Quechua-speaking natives who have, over the generations, developed both an efficient and original social system as well as a refined handweaving technique. Lunch will be served in a local house that serves as a restaurant. After lunch, we will explore the island and you can appreciate the magnificent views of Lake Titicaca, then returning to the boat to arrive back in the afternoon at the hotel.

Day 3 ~ Lake Titicaca/Lima for Departure

7:20 AM: Meet in the Hotel Lobby prior to departure
7:35 AM Airport Transfer We will visit the "Chullpas" of Sillustani en route, where the ancient Aymaras used to bury their high priests in cylinder-shaped tombs. Sillustani is a pre-Incan burial ground on the shores of Lake Umayo near Puno. The tombs, which are built above ground in tower-like structures called chullpas, are the vestiges of the Colla people, Aymara who were conquered by the Inca in the 1400s. The ancient Aymaras used to bury their high priests in these cylinder-shaped rock tombs. We will then proceed to Juliaca airport, with guided assistance on our departing flight.
Depart: Juliaca
Arrive: Lima
Upon arrival into Lima, you will be picked up by our Zoom Vacations representative and taken into Lima for a day of shopping and dinner. Your driver will take you to the “Indian” market, where you can shop for local crafts and gifts and then to Rosa Nautica for dinner (Dinner on own account). Rosa Nautica enjoys a unique location over the ocean at the end of a pier. In addition to great cuisine, you may get watch surfers below, if the conditions are right.
